About this tool

A watermark marks a document's status or ownership on every page: DRAFT on a contract under review, CONFIDENTIAL on a report, SAMPLE on a template you sell, or the recipient's name on a copy you share. This tool stamps your text onto the pages of one or many PDFs, keeping the original text and layout underneath.

Choose a large diagonal mark, a level one in the centre, a repeated pattern that covers the whole page, or a discreet line in the header or footer. The size adapts to each page, so a document mixing portrait and landscape pages, or A4 and Letter sizes, looks consistent, and pages that are stored rotated are handled so the mark always reads the right way up.

The watermark is drawn as real PDF content with transparency, so text underneath stays readable and selectable. Lettering in other alphabets is supported too: when the standard PDF font lacks a character, the text is drawn as a high-resolution image instead.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type or open is never sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Can someone remove the watermark?

Someone with PDF editing software can remove added text. A watermark deters casual copying and shows a document's status; it is not a security feature. For real protection, share less or use encryption.

Will the original text still be selectable?

Yes. The watermark is added on top as a separate layer, so searching, selecting and copying the document text still work.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Enter page numbers or ranges, such as 1-3, 7, under More options. Leave it empty for every page.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Yes. The mark is drawn over whatever is on the page, whether text or a scanned image.

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. The watermark is added by your browser and the new PDF is saved straight to your device.
