Printable Paper Generator
Design your own grid, dot or lined paper and print it at exact size.
How to use the Printable Paper Generator
- Pick a pattern: graph, dot grid, lined, isometric, hexagon or music staff.
- Choose the paper size, spacing in millimetres, line colour and weight. The preview updates instantly.
- Set how many pages you want (up to 20).
- Click "Download PDF" and print it at 100% (Actual size), not "Fit to page".
About this tool
Stationery shops sell only a few standard rulings, and generic printables rarely match the spacing you want. This generator draws the paper you describe: a 5 mm graph grid with a bolder line every centimetre, a soft grey dot grid for bullet journaling, college-ruled lines with a margin, isometric dots for 3D sketches, hexagons for board-game maps, or blank music staves.
The PDF is built from true vector lines measured in millimetres, so a 5 mm square on screen is a 5 mm square on paper. The pattern is centred on the sheet with even margins, which means you can trim or hole-punch without cutting into the grid. Because the same pattern object is reused on every page, a 20-page pad stays small and prints quickly.
Tip: in your print dialog, choose "Actual size" or 100% scale. "Fit to page" shrinks the sheet slightly and your spacing will no longer be exact. For a lighter look that does not compete with your writing, pick a pale colour and the hairline weight.
Frequently asked questions
Will the grid print at the exact size?
Yes, as long as you print at 100% or "Actual size". The PDF uses the real paper dimensions and spacing in millimetres, with no scaling.
What spacing should I use?
Common choices are 5 mm for graph and dot grid, 7.1 mm for college ruled, 8.7 mm for wide ruled and 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) for US graph paper. Music staves usually have about 2 mm between lines.
Is anything uploaded or tracked?
No. The preview and the PDF are generated in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and your settings are only remembered in this browser.
Can I get it as an image or for a tablet?
Yes. "Download SVG" saves the page as a scalable vector image, which you can import into note-taking apps such as GoodNotes or use as a template in design software.
Why is there a small gap at the edges?
The grid is centred and only whole squares, dots or hexagons are drawn, so any leftover space is split evenly around the margins. Increase or decrease the margin to adjust it.
