How to use the Bulk Redirect Generator

  1. Paste one redirect per line: the old URL, then the new URL. Spaces, tabs, commas or arrows all work.
  2. Pick your server or hosting platform and the status code.
  3. Check the comments in the output for anything your platform cannot do exactly.
  4. Copy the rules or download them, then add them to your config and test a few URLs.

About this tool

When you move pages, rename a section or switch platforms, every old URL needs a permanent redirect to its new home so visitors and search engines are not left with 404 errors. Writing hundreds of those rules by hand is slow and error-prone, and each server has its own syntax. This generator takes a plain list of old and new addresses, for example straight from a spreadsheet, and writes the rules for Apache, Nginx, Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare Pages or IIS.

Each line is checked before anything is written. Lines with a missing target, a bad URL or a redirect to itself are reported by line number, and duplicate sources are flagged in the output. Full URLs on the old side are reduced to their path by default, because most rules match paths only. Query strings are handled where the platform supports it, such as RewriteCond in Apache, a has-condition in Vercel or a QUERY_STRING condition in IIS; elsewhere a comment explains the limitation.

Tip: use 301 or 308 for permanent moves you want search engines to index, and 302 or 307 only while you are testing. Browsers cache 301s aggressively, so test in a private window.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type or open is never sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Which separators can I use between old and new URLs?

A space, a tab, a comma, or an arrow such as -> , => or →. CSV pasted from a spreadsheet works too, including a header row and quoted values. An optional third column can set a different status code for that line.

What is the difference between 301 and 308?

Both are permanent. A 301 may let browsers turn a POST into a GET when following the redirect, while 308 must keep the original method and body. For normal page moves either is fine; 301 has the widest support.

Why does Apache Redirect also catch longer URLs?

The Redirect directive matches by prefix, so a rule for /blog also redirects /blog/anything to the same place with the rest of the path added. Choose the RewriteRule format if you need exact matches only.

Are my URLs uploaded anywhere?

No. The rules are written by code running in this page, on your device. Your URL list is not sent to a server or stored by us.
