About this tool
Retyping a paragraph because it was written in the wrong case is a waste of time. This converter rewrites any text in one step: UPPERCASE and lowercase for quick fixes, Title Case for headlines and headings, Sentence case for text that was typed with caps lock on, and the programmer formats camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE and dot.case for variable names, file names, CSS classes and URL slugs.
Title Case follows the common style-guide habit of keeping short words such as "a", "of", "and" and "in" lowercase, except when they start or end the title or come right after a colon. Sentence case capitalises the first letter after a full stop, question mark or line break, and always writes the pronoun "I" in capitals.
Tip: for the programmer cases, each line is converted separately, so you can paste a whole column of labels and get a matching column of variable names back. Acronyms like NASA or brand names like iPhone are kept as typed unless you switch that off.
Frequently asked questions
Which words stay lowercase in Title Case?
Articles (a, an, the), short conjunctions (and, but, or, nor, so, yet) and short prepositions (at, by, for, in, of, on, to, up, via, with and similar). They are still capitalised when they are the first or last word or follow a colon.
What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?
Both join words without spaces and capitalise each word. camelCase starts with a lowercase letter (firstName), while PascalCase capitalises the first word too (FirstName). JavaScript variables usually use camelCase; class names usually use PascalCase.
Why did my acronyms stay in capitals?
With "Keep acronyms & brand names" on, words that are already all capitals or have a capital in the middle (NASA, PDF, iPhone) are left as they are. Turn the option off to convert every word strictly. If almost all of your text is in capitals, the option is ignored so shouting text still gets fixed.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser with plain JavaScript. Nothing is sent to a server, and the text is only kept in this browser's local storage so it survives a page reload.
