How to use the Split PDF

  1. Drop a PDF on the left, or click to choose it.
  2. Pick how to split it: by ranges, as one extract, or page by page.
  3. Type the pages you want, for example "1-3, 5, 8-10". Results update as you type.
  4. Download each part, or all of them together as a ZIP.

About this tool

Splitting is handy when you only need part of a document: one chapter of a report, the signed page of a contract, or a single month out of a year of bank statements. Type the pages you want and this tool produces a new PDF for each range, named after the original file and the pages it holds, such as report-p1-3.pdf.

There are three ways to work. "One PDF per range" turns 1-3, 5, 8-10 into three files. "One PDF with the chosen pages" collects the same pages into a single document, in the order you typed them, so 5, 1-2 puts page 5 first. "Every page as its own PDF" bursts the whole file into single pages, which you can grab together as a ZIP.

Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable and nothing is re-compressed. The PDF is processed entirely in your browser. Tip: use "last" to refer to the final page without counting, for example "last" or "10-last".

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type or open is never sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Splitting happens inside your browser tab with a JavaScript PDF library. The document never leaves your device.

How do I write page ranges?

Separate items with commas. A single number is one page, "4-7" is a span, "8-" runs to the end and "-3" starts at page 1. The word "last" means the final page.

Can I reorder pages while extracting?

Yes. In "One PDF with the chosen pages" mode, pages appear in the order you type them. For drag-and-drop reordering, use the Organize PDF Pages tool.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Each page is copied exactly, including fonts and images, so the parts look identical to the original.

What about password-protected PDFs?

Encrypted files cannot be split until the protection is removed. Open the file with its password in your PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, and use that.
