About this tool

Cropping is the quickest way to improve a photo: remove distractions at the edges, straighten the composition around your subject, or fit a picture into the shape a platform expects. Drag the crop box to move it, pull any corner or edge to resize it, or drag on the dimmed area to draw a new box. The thirds grid helps you place the subject off-centre for a more balanced picture.

Aspect presets lock the box to common shapes: 1:1 for profile pictures and square posts, 4:5 for portrait Instagram posts, 16:9 for video thumbnails and slides, 9:16 for stories and reels, and 4:3 or 3:2 for prints. If you need exact pixels, type the position and size into the number fields; the box follows instantly, and the fields update as you drag.

The crop is taken from the full-resolution original, not the on-screen preview, so no quality is lost beyond the format you save in. Tip: use the arrow keys on the focused crop box to nudge it one pixel at a time, or ten with Shift.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type or open is never sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. The picture is opened and cropped by your browser on your device. It is never sent to a server.

Does cropping reduce quality?

The cropped area keeps its original pixels. Saving as PNG is lossless; JPG and WebP apply light compression at the quality you choose.

What size is best for Instagram?

Use 4:5 for portrait feed posts (ideally 1080 × 1350), 1:1 for square posts and 9:16 for stories and reels.

Can I crop on my phone?

Yes. The box and handles respond to touch: drag inside to move, and drag the corner handles to resize.

Is the photo's location data kept?

No. The saved image is newly encoded and contains no EXIF metadata such as GPS location.
