CSV to Excel Converter
Turn CSV files into proper Excel workbooks, one sheet per file if you like.
How to use the CSV to Excel Converter
- Drop one or more CSV files on the left, or click to choose them.
- Pick whether several files go into one workbook or become separate .xlsx files.
- The workbook is built right away; the row count shows under each result.
- Download the .xlsx, or all files at once as a ZIP.
Examples
Drop jan.csv, feb.csv and mar.csv → combined.xlsx with three sheets named jan, feb and mar.
Drop a folder's worth of CSV exports → one .xlsx per file, downloaded together as a ZIP.
About this tool
Opening a CSV directly in Excel often goes wrong: numbers turn into text, long IDs lose digits, accented letters get garbled, or everything lands in column A because of a delimiter mismatch. Converting to a real .xlsx file first avoids those surprises, and the result opens identically in Excel, LibreOffice, Numbers and Google Sheets.
This converter parses each CSV properly, including quoted cells with commas and line breaks, detects whether the file uses commas, semicolons, tabs or pipes, and writes plain numbers as numeric cells so sums and filters work immediately. Anything that only looks like a number, such as a postcode with a leading zero or a 20-digit card reference, is kept as text so no digits are lost.
Tip: to merge a set of exports, drop them all at once with the one-workbook option. Each file becomes its own sheet, named after the file.
Frequently asked questions
Are my CSV files uploaded?
No. Parsing and building the workbook both happen in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
Will long numbers like IDs be changed?
Numbers longer than 15 digits and values with leading zeros are stored as text, so Excel cannot round or trim them.
How are sheets named in a combined workbook?
Each sheet takes the file name without its extension, shortened to Excel's 31-character limit. Duplicate names get a number added.
Are dates converted?
Dates are kept exactly as written in the CSV, as text, because CSV date formats are ambiguous (is 03/04 March or April?). Excel can convert them with Text to Columns if needed.
Is there a size limit?
Files with hundreds of thousands of rows work on most computers. The practical limit is your device's memory.
